Friday's games . . .

FRIDAY’S GAMES
Vancouver 2, Kelowna 0 — In Ladner, B.C., Tim Kraus and Michael Wuchterl, two 20-year-old forwards, scored the goals as the Vancouver Giants dumped the Kelowna Rockets, 2-0. Freshman G Jamie Tucker stopped 20 shots to earn the shutout. Kris Westblom stopped 31 shots and took the loss for the Rockets, who are winless in four outings. The Giants were 1-for-9 on the PP; the Rockets were 0-for-9. The teams meet again tonight, this time in Kelowna. The Giants have a 20-game unbeaten streak in exhibition games going back to 2005.

Kootenay 1, Calgary 0 — Tylan Stephens’ goal at 7:44 of the first period stood up as the winner as the Ice beat the host Hitmen. Kris Lazaruk and Nathan Lieuwen, each of whom stopped 14 shots, shared the shutout. Calgary goaltender Martin Jones stopped 12 of 13 shots, with Dan Spence coming on to stop 11. The Ice was 0-for-7 on the PP; the Hitmen were 0-for-6.

Prince Albert 4, Saskatoon 3 (OT) — In Prince Albert, Kirk Belyk, with two power-play goals, and Jordan Braid scored for Saskatoon, which got 39 saves from goaltender Matthew Krahn, 16. Sorry, that’s all the info I could dig up.

Kamloops 6, Prince George 3 — Down 3-0 to the host Cougars (0-4), the Blazers scored the game’s last six goals and improved to 3-1. The team’s meet again Saturday in Kamloops. Tyler Shattock, Sasha Golin, Ryan Bender, Kenton Dulle, Jimmy Bubnick and Ivan Rohac, with an empty-netter, scored for Kamloops. Colin Haas, Alex Poulter and Dale Hunt counted for the Cougars, who were outshot 40-13. Veteran Real Cyr was superb in Prince George’s net. Justin Leclerc stopped five of eight shots for Kamloops, with James Priestner coming on at 9:35 of the second period to stop the five shots he faced.

Swift Current 4, Moose Jaw 1 — The visiting Broncos got two goals from Dale Wiese and singles from Brady Leavold and Cody Eakin. Brad Riege had Moose Jaw’s goal. The Broncos outshot the Warriors 34-23. Kurt Jory went the distance in goal for Moose Jaw, with Travis Yonkman and Ian Curtis splitting time for the Broncos.

TRI-CITY TOURNAMENT
Spokane 5, Portland 1 — The Chiefs ran their record to 4-0 as Mitch Wahl scored twice. The Winter Hawks are 0-3. Tyler Johnson, Jared Cowen and Chris Langkow also scored for Spokane, which got two assists each from rookie defencemen Stefan Ulmer and Jace Coyle. Luke Walker had Portland’s goal, tying the game 1-1 heading into the second period. Spokane goaltender Kevin Armstrong stopped 27 shots, while Jordan White of the Winter Hawks turned aside 32.

Tri-City 4, Seattle 1 — Taylor Procyshen, Petr Stoklasa, Erik Felde and Cody Wutzke, with an empty-netter, scored for the Americans, with Sena Acolatse counting for Seattle. Each team was 1-for-9 on the PP. Jacob De Serres stopped 19 shots in Seattle’s net. The Americans went with Kyle Birch, who stopped 17 of 18 shots, and Chet Picard, who was 6-for-6.
