More from Monday . . .

Was that an entertaining baseball game, or what? There’s nothing like a sudden-death game in any sport and this one was terrific. . . . Here’s hoping for a few more over the next few weeks. . . .

Brandon Wheat Kings D Theran Yeo, 20, underwent successful knee surgery in Winnipeg. He had the arthrosopic procedure done Monday and hopes to be back by month’s end. He was injured in the club’s intrasquad game so has yet to play this season. . . .

The Calgary Hitmen have welcomed back D Alex Plante, 18, from the camp of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers. His arrival leaves the Hitmen with 27 players on their roster. . . .

With the Kelowna Rockets having landed LW Jamie Benn, Steve Ewen of the Vancouver Province (read him at Dub Hub) notes that Benn has gone from playing for owner Len Barrie with the BCHL’s Victoria Grizzlies to playing with Barrie’s son, Tyson, who is a rookie defenceman in the Little Apple. . . . Benn had committed to the U of Alaska at Fairbanks before choosing to join the Rockets. . . .

If you want some flashes from the past, be at the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge on Tuesday when the Hurricanes entertain the Swift Current Broncos. The Lethbridge Herald reports that the Hurricanes will “reintroduce” five championship banners during pregame ceremonies. Among those expected to be on hand, according to the Herald, are Dennis Kjelgaard, Len Overbeeke, Rob Fritz, Gord Tait, James Sinclair, Rick Gal, John Chapman, John Lutz, Joe Meli, Brad Cox, Earl Ingarfield, Don Johnson, James Hogan, Warren Babe, Rick Peters and Rich Wiest. . . . There is bound to be some stories told after that game. . . . And a tip of the cap to the Hurricanes for their work at getting the alumni involved with the program. . . .

The Kootenay Ice received a bit of a scare the other day when two players were involved in a single-vehicle rollover. G Nathan Lieuwen, who is in a scrap for the backup spot behind Kris Lazaruk, suffered a concussion when the car driven by D Jordan Wilkins, the 20th overall pick in the 2005 bantam draft, rolled and was totalled. Lieuwen is likely to be out a couple of weeks. “Jordan wasn’t hurt except for some cuts on his hands,” Ice general manager Jeff Chynoweth told Jeff Bromley of the Kootenay Advertiser, “although his car was ruined, and Nathan was fine that night. The next day he didn’t feel very good.” . . .

D Jeff May, 20, was released Monday by the AHL’s Houston Aeros — hello, there, Kevin Constantine — and has rejoined the Prince Albert Raiders. He should be in the lineup Tuesday against the host Medicine Hat Tigers. May’s return leaves the Raiders with four 20-year-olds, the others being G Dustin Butler, D John Flatters and D Mike Gauther. The WHL’s 20-year-old deadline is Oct. 11. . . .

The Prince George Cougars will be without import C Jan Kupec for up to six weeks with a suspected separated shoulder. He was injured Saturday in a 6-4 loss to the Bruins in Chilliwack. . . . And the Prince George Citizen reports that Cougars head coach Drew Schoneck may end up with his right wrist in a cast. It seems an injury suffered during his playing days is acting up. . . . The Cougars and Bruins were fined $250 apiece for staging battling goaltenders — yes, Real Cyr and Matt Esposito duked it out — during a line brawl on Saturday. . . .

The Vancouver Giants will be without LW Milan Lucic, their 19-year-old captain, after he cracked the roster of the NHL’s Boston Bruins. They took him 50th overall in the NHL’s 2006 entry draft. He has a chance to be a terrific NHL power forward. . . . The Bruins can play him in nine games and then make a decision on whether to return him to Vancouver. If he plays in a 10th game, he is credited with one season played which counts big time in terms of free-agent eligibility.
