Just in time for a six-game East Division swing that opens Friday in Brandon, the Prince George Cougars have acquired LW Morgan MacLean, 19, from the Everett Silvertips for something, likely a conditional bantam draft pick. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound MacLean had 33 points in 52 games with the AJHL’s Grande Prairie Storm last season. He’s from Grande Prairie. . . . MacLean had one assist in four games with Everett this season. . . . A third-round selection by Brandon in the 2003 bantam draft, he played one game with the Wheat Kings in each of the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. . . .
The Red Deer Rebels have returned F Tyler Halliday, 18, to the BCHL’s Merritt Centennials. He had 10 penalty minutes in two games after being brought back from Merritt a couple of weeks ago. . . .
The Spokane Chiefs have acquired F Ryan Letts, 18, from the Calgary Hitmen for a 2008 sixth-round bantam draft pick. . . . Letts, from Newport Beach, Calif., is in his third WHL season. He had five points and 42 penalty minutes in 47 games last season. . . . Spokane head coach Bill Peters will love the grit Letts brings to the Chiefs' game. . . .
The Vancouver Giants, who are in the market for some experience on the back end, have acquired RW Phil Gervais, 17, from the Swift Current Broncos for a 2008 third-round bantam draft pick. Gervais, a third-round pick in the 2005 draft, was pointless in four games after totaling four points in 53 games last season. . . .
The Prince Albert Raiders have cut Colin Scherger, 18, and he is awaiting placement with a junior A team. Scherger played defence and forward with the Raiders since being acquired from the Seattle Thunderbirds last season for G Tyler Esau. Scherger had one assist and seven penalty minutes in five games this season. . . . The Raiders also have dropped G David Aime, 18, and he, too, is awaiting assignment. He didn’t get into a game with the Raiders last season after playing in 27 last season when he was 6-8-2-0 with a 3.68 GAA and .876 save percentage. . . . That leaves the Raiders with Dustin Butler, 20, who was acquired from the Kamloops Blazers last month, and rookie Steven Sanford, 17, as their goaltenders. . . .
