THE SCORE

WHAT HAPPENED
The Cougars scored four first-period goals, three on the power play, and the
Blazers were never in this one.
THE GOALS
The Blazers hadn’t given up eight goals at home since Oct. 12, 2003, when
they fell 8-2 to the Kelowna Rockets.
THE HAT TRICK
Prince George LW Dana Tyrell. a 30-goal man last season, enjoyed his first
WHL three-goal game. It came in his 157th regular-season game and left him
with a team-high 11 goals this season.
THE STANDINGS
The Blazers (6-9-1-0) are ninth in the 10-team Western Conference, two
points behind the Seattle Thunderbirds (6-4-2-1). The Cougars (8-9-0-0) and
Kelowna Rockets (7-7-1-1) are tied for sixth.
THE POWER PLAY
The Cougars came in with the WHL’s third-ranked power play. They promptly
scored three first-period power-play goals and added another in the second.
With 24 PP goals on the season, they have 10 more than Kamloops.

The Cougars’ 24-man roster includes six American players — C Marcus Watson
(San Jose), C Alex Poulter (Broomfield, Colo.), C Colin Hass (Plano, Texas),
RW Parker Stanfield (Orange Country, Calif.), C Matt Sokol (Los Angeles) and
G Tommy Tartaglione (Harbor City, Calif.).
THE SERIES
This was the first of 10 meetings between these teams this season. The
Cougars will be back here Nov. 23.
THE SONG

take on a more positive aura, WHL fan extraordinaire Alan Caldwell
