The Kootenay Ice has assigned G Nathan Lieuwen, 16, to the BCHL’s Westside Warriors. Lieuwen was one of three goaltenders on the Ice roster, along with veteran Kris Lazaruk19, and freshman Thomas Heemskerk, 17. . . . Lieuwen, the 16th pick in the 2006 bantam draft, suffered a concussion in a car accident early in the season and has just recently been cleared to return to play. . . . Lieuwen and James Priestner of the Kamloops Blazers will be Team Pacific’s goaltenders at the under-17 World Hockey Challenge in London, Ont., after Christmas.
