WHL has alumni association
In what is a terrific move, WHL commissioner Ron Robison has announced the formation of the WHL Alumni Association. According to Robison, this association will take an active role in assisting with the operation and promotion of the WHL at the club and league levels. The association’s first president is Kelly Hrudey, a former Medicine Hat Tigers goaltender. Also on the executive are vice-president Dell Chapman (Saskatoon/Billings, 1973-78) and members at large Cal Ellerby (Calgary, 1977-79), Daryl Henry (Billings/Nanaimo/Kelowna/Medicine Hat, 1981-84), John Gordon (Victoria, 1975-77), Warren Skorodenski (Calgary, 1977-80), Gable Gross (Kamloops/Regina/ Medicine Hat, 1997-02), Jeff Marshall (Regina, 1979-80), Clayton Norris (Medicine Hat, 1988-93) and Ron Sutter (Lethbridge, 1980-83). . . . The executive met Wednesday in Calgary to get things rolling. . . . This is a hugely progressive move by the WHL because there are a whole lot of ex-players out there who really would like to provide a helping hand.
