The Brandon Wheat Kings have lost C Andrew Clark to a broken right ankle, according to the Brandon Sun. The newspaper reports in its Tuesday’s edition that, although the team hasn’t announced the injury, Clark was injured in a 4-3 victory over the Raiders in Prince Albert on Saturday. Clark has 39 points in 30 games, good for 17th spot in the WHL points race. He has been playing with linemates Tyler Dittmer, who has 42 points, and Matt Lowry, who has 37. Clark is expected to be out until the end of January. . . .
Former WHL goaltender David Reekie, 20, is the talk of the USHL after scoring the first goal of his junior career on Saturday. Not only did Reekie, who plays for the Lincoln Stars, score a goal but he also put up his first USHL shutout, beating the Chicago Steel, 2-0. . . . Reekie, who stopped 28 shots, scored into an empty Chicago net at 19:44 of the third period. He is the first USHL goaltender since 2003-04 to score. That season, two goaltenders scored five days apart — Troy Davenport of Green Bay did it on Oct. 5 against St. Louise and Justin Tobe of Danville did it Oct. 10 against Tri-City. . . . “As soon as he shot it, you knew it was going in,” Lincoln assistant coach Nick Fouts said of Reekie’s goal. “It was a perfect way for David to cap off a shutout. This was a very exciting moment that I’m sure no one, especially David, will ever forget.” . . .
