Tuesday's notes. . .

The QMJHL appears headed back to Verdun. The league is likely to approve the sale of the St. John's Fog Devils from Derm Dobbin to Montreal businessman Farrel Miller during a conference call on Friday. Brad Dobbin, the team’s governor and Derm’s son, said the family sold the team for about $3 million. Brad Dobbin said the franchise is likely to lose around $750,000 this season. The Fog Devils are averaging 3,331 fans per game, a drop of 254 per game over last season. Their lease with the Mile One Centre expires after this season. . . . Miller is the founder and CEO of SportTV.com, which televises events on the Internet. He will move the team to the Montreal suburb of Verdun where it will play out of the Denis-Savard Arena, which was last home to a QMJHL franchise in 1994. The facility is expected to be renovated in time for the 2008-09 season. . . . This story was first reported by the Quebec television network RDS. . . .
