Wednesday's trade talk . . .

WHL TRADE DEADLINE: Thursday, 3 p.m. Calgary time.

ON THE MOVE (since Jan. 1):
Trades made: 14
Players: 32
Bantam draft picks: 13
Conditional bantam draft picks: 3

The Swift Current Broncos acquired D Bretton Stamler, 20, from the Edmonton Oil Kings for a third-round pick in the 2008 bantam draft. . . . In a separate deal, the Broncos dealt D R.J. Larochelle, 20, to the Giants for a 2009 eight-round bantam pick. Larochelle is out of action with a concussion. . . .

The Regina Pats picked up F Ryan DePape, 19, from the Prince Albert Raiders for F Jared Jagow, 19, and a 2008 third-round bantam draft pick. . . . The 6-foot-2, 214-pound DePape, the third overall pick in the 2003 draft, had 19 points in 43 games with the Raiders, after putting up 56 in 43 games last season. . . . Jagow, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound sophomore, has 15 points with the Pats. He had 15 points in 60 games last season. . . .

Prince Albert also dealt the rights to RW Brent Ottmann, 19, to the Kelowna Rockets for a conditional 2009 bantam draft pick. Ottmann was taken by the Raiders with the 28th pick of the 2003 bantam draft. He had 42 points, including 14 goals, in 144 games with the Raiders over the last four seasons and now is with the SJHL’s Nipawin Hawks. . . .

D Zach Sim is on the move again. Sim, 19, has been traded by Prince Albert to the Kootenay Ice for a fifth-round pick in the 2008 bantam draft. The Raiders got Sim from the Medicine Hat Tigers for a fifth-rounder on Nov. 27. He had four points and 12 penalty minutes in 14 games with the Raiders. Sim also has played with the Everett Silvertips and Tri-City Americans. . . .

TRADE BANTER: The Regina Leader-Post’s Greg Harder, who reported earlier in the week that the Pats had a tentative deal for RW Robin Figren of the Edmonton Oil Kings, now reports that deal may be falling through. According to Harder, “It’s now in jeopardy because he has reportedly balked at joining the Pats. The deal may or may not happen before today’s trade deadline.” . . . “I think we’re probably done,” Regina GM Brent Parker told Harder. “If something came along where we could add another import we might do it but we’re not hell bent on doing it by any stretch. We’re very happy to go forward with this group of kids. We have as good a chance as anybody to take run at it. There are no guarantees obviously but we think we’re right in the mix.”
