WHAT HAPPENED
The Blazers weren’t able to put away a tired bunch of Silvertips and, in the
end, it cost them a point.
THE STANDINGS
The loser point lifted the Blazers (26-28-2-2) into seventh place in the
Western Conference, a point ahead of the Chilliwack Bruins, who hold three
games in hand. . . . The Silvertips (32-25-0-2) are fifth, a point up on the
Seattle Thunderbirds, who are nine ahead of Kamloops.
THE SEASON SERIES
The Blazers finished 1-1-2-0 against Everett, which is 3-1-0-0 against the
Blazers. . . . The Blazers’ all-time record against Everett is 10-9-2-0,
while Everett is 11-10-0-0 against Kamloops. . . . Gotta love the world of
overtime and shootout losses.
THE BIRTHDAY BOYS
Two of the Blazers celebrated birthdays Sunday. D Nick Ross turned 19, while
RW Tyler Shattock hit 18. Shattock has shed the cast from his broken leg and
hopes to be back skating by Feb. 19.
THE HOT STREAK
Everett RW Dan Gendur has 38 points, including 16 goals, over his last 21
games. He also is plus-16 over that stretch. He was acquired Nov. 26, 2006,
from the Prince George Cougars for a sixth-round bantam draft pick. He had
18 points in 92 games with the Cougars. In 98 games with Everett, Gendur,
20, has 113 points.
THE BIG GUY
With three veteran defencemen out, Everett has added D Brenden Stephen, a
6-foot-7, 190-pounder, from the junior B Princeton Posse. He had 10 points
and 111 penalty minutes in 45 games with the Posse.
