D Dane Crowley of the Everett Silvertips has joined the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals after signing a tryout agreement with the affiliate of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning. He was selected by Tampa Bay in the sixth round of the 2006 NHL draft. Crowley played as a 20-year-old this season so has used up his WHL eligibility. He played 279 games in the WHL over five seasons. He also played with the Saskatoon Blades and Swift Current Broncos. . . .

In Kennewick, Wash., the Seattle Thunderbirds got three goals from F Ian McKenzie was they romped to a 7-1 victory over the top-seeded Tri-City Americans. . . . McKenzie has seven goals in these playoffs. . . . The turning point may have come at 9:48 of the second period when Seattle sniper Bud Holloway stripped the puck from Jason Reese – Americans supporters felt a penalty should have been assessed, perhaps for slashing or tripping – and went in to score shorthanded and give his mates a 3-0 lead. . . . D Scott Jackson added two goals for the visitors. . . . Seattle D Thomas Hickey left at 8:26 of the second period with an injury that occurred during a play on which he was penalized for tripping Tri-City F Adam Hughesman. He didn’t return to the Seattle bench until the third period but head coach Rob Sumner chose not to use him. . . . Seattle G Riku Helenius stopped 29 shots. . . . Tri-City G Chet Pickard made 22 saves before being replaced in the third period by Kyle Birch, who stopped three of four shots. . . . While Seattle finished off the Kelowna Rockets in Game 7 on Tuesday, the Americans hadn’t played since March 26 when they completed a four-game sweep of the Blazers in Kamloops. . . . In Lethbridge, the Kootenay Ice scored the game’s last three goals and beat the Hurricanes, 3-2. . . . D Jesse Craige and F Colton Sceviour had the Hurricanes out front 2-0 with second-period PP goals. . . . D Ian Barteaux got the Ice on the board with a PP goal at 4:52 of the third and LW Kris Foucault tied it at 10:26. . . . It was the first goal of the playoffs for both Barteaux and Foucault. . . . That set the stage for C Ben Maxwell to get the winner at 13:42. It was Maxwell’s fifth goal of these playoffs. . . . D Chad Greenan drew assists on the Ice’s first two goals. . . . Attendance was 4,817. . . . They’ll play Game 2 Saturday in Lethbridge. . . .

In Swift Current, the Broncos got the game’s last three goals as they beat the Calgary Hitmen, 3-2. . . . Calgary D Karl Alzner gave his side a 2-0 lead before the game was eight minutes old. But that was it for Calgary’s offence. . . . Swift Current got second-period goals from F Levi Nelson, at 3:31 on the PP, and F Cody Eakin, at 15:09, to pull even. . . . Nelson won it with his fifth goal of the playoffs at 8:37 of the third. . . .
