Saturday's stuff . . .

G Alex Archibald, who exhausted his WHL eligibility with the Edmonton Oil Kings this season, has joined the IHL’s Muskegon Fury. Archibald signed with the Fury as an emergency replacement after both its goaltenders, including former WHLer Clayton Pool, went down with injuries. With both goaltenders back, Archibald is staying with the Fury on a tryout basis. The Fury’s roster includes former WHL D Dave Van Drunen and F Kyle Kos. . . . Archibald was 16-24-9, .915 and 2.91 with the expansion Oil Kings. . . .

In Swift Current, the Calgary Hitmen got five points from F Ryan White and three goals from F Brock Nixon as they beat the Broncos, 8-4. . . . Calgary won the series, 4-2, and will meet the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference final. . . . White finished the night with two goals and three assists. . . . Calgary scored four times in the first period and went on from there. One night earlier, they had given up four first-period goals as they lost 5-2 at home. . . . The Hitmen led Game 6 by a 5-2 count when the Broncos got third-period goals from Zack Smith and Jan Dalecky before White scored on the PP and he and Nixon added empty-netters. . . . Calgary F T.J. Galiardi, who had one goal, leads the WHL points race, with 20. Nixon, who leads all scorers with nine goals, Tri-City LW Colton Yellow Horn and Calgary F Brandon Kozun, who had three assists Saturday, have 17 points apiece. White is next, with 16. . . . Nixon must be having the time of his life. In his fifth WHL season, the first four-plus of which were spent with the Kamloops Blazers, Nixon had never been out of the first round. In fact, he had played 10 playoff games in his career before this season; he has played in 12 this spring alone. . . . Calgary gave G Martin Jones his first postseason start and he responded with 27 stops. . . . Calgary was 3-for-7 on the PP; the Broncos were 0-for-3. . . . Calgary is 5-1 on the road in these playoffs and has outscored the opposition 30-15 in those games. . . .

In Vancouver, G Dustin Tokarski stopped 22 shots as the Spokane Chiefs dumped the Giants, 4-0. . . . The Chiefs won two of three games in Vancouver and now hold a 3-2 edge in the series. Game 6 goes Monday in Spokane. . . . Spokane led this one 2-0 before the midway point of the first period on goals by D Justin Falk, who was plus-4 on the night, and F David Rutherford. . . . Spokane held a 10-5 edge in shots in the first period and a 30-22 advantage in the game. . . . It was the second time this season that Vancouver has been shutout at home. The last time? On Oct. 21, the Chiefs, with Kevin Armstrong in goal, won, 2-0. . . . Spokane D Stefan Ulmer was plus-3, as were linemates Drayson Bowman, Ondrej Roman and Rutherford. Bowman had one goal, while Roman and Rutherford had two assists each. . . . Attendance was 8,049. . . . Spokane was 0-for-4 on the PP; the Giants were 0-for-5. . . . Vancouver’s penalty killers are 37-for-42 in nine playoff games. . . . Spokane’s penalty killers are 20-for-21 in five road playoff games. . . . The winner of this series will meet the Tri-City Americans in the Western Conference final.
