Wednesday's stuff . . .

RW J.D. Watt of the Regina Pats and D Keith Aulie of the Brandon Wheat Kings have signed tryout deals with the AHL’s Quad City Flames. Watt, who was acquired by the Pats from the Red Deer Rebels during the season, was a fourth-round pick by the parent Calgary Flames in the NHL’s 2005 draft. He had 37 points and 169 penalty minutes in 58 WHL games this season. Watt has used up his WHL eligibility. . . . Aulie, who turns 19 on July 11, was selected by Calgary in the fourth round of the NHL’s 2007 draft. The 6-foot-6, 218-pounder had 17 points in 72 games this season. . . .

G Kris Westblom, who played out his eligibility with the Kelowna Rockets this season, has joined the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, the Pittsburgh Penguins’ AHL affiliate. Westblom was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the third round of the 2005 NHL draft but never signed a contract. Westblom spent four seasons with the Rockets. . . .

F Tomas Vincour of the Edmonton Oil Kings led the IIHF World Under-18 Division 1 Championship in scoring as Czech Republic won it all. Vincour finished with 13 points, including a tournament high 11 assists, in five games to beat out linemate Tomas Kubalik by one point. . . . The Czechs beat Slovenia 8-2 in their final game to run their record to 5-0 and gain promotion to the top group. . . . That group begins play this weekend in Kazan, Russia. Canada opens against Germany on Sunday. . . .

In Calgary, former Swift Current D Paul Postma delivered two power-play goals to help the Hitmen to a 3-2 victory over the Broncos. . . . Postma has six goals in these playoffs. He counted at 19:26 of the first period and 6:04 of the second to give Calgary a 2-0 lead. . . . Swift Current F Dale Weise got the Broncos on the board at 13:54 of the second period, but F Brett Sonne restored Calgary’s two-goal lead at 17:15. . . . Calgary is 42-0 when leading after two periods. . . . Swift Current F David Stieler got his guys close at 10:13 of the third. . . . Calgary had a 34-20 edge in shots. . . . The Hitmen were 2-for-5 on the PP; the Broncos were 0-for-3. . . . The teams were on the ice 24 hours after the Hitmen posted a 6-5 victory on F Ryan White’s winner in the last minute of the second OT period. . . . With the Calgary Flames’ playoff opener on TV, attendance at the Hitmen game was 5,273. . . . Game 5 is scheduled for Friday in Calgary. . . .

In Cranbrook, LW DanIwanski’s first playoff goal gave the Lethbridge Hurricanes a 2-1 overtime victory over the Kootenay Ice. . . . Iwanski scored at 3:23 of the second overtime period to give Lethbridge a 3-1 series lead. . . . F Dwight King got his fifth goal of the playoffs on the PP at 14:43 of the first period. . . . Kootenay F Steve Da Silva tied it at 8:47 of the second period. . . . One night after enjoying 16 power-play opportunities in a 5-2 victory, the Hurricanes were 1-for-7. . . . The Ice was 0-for-6 on the PP. . . . Attendance was 2,829. . . . The series shifts to Lethbridge for Game 5 on Friday. . . . Lethbridge was without F Zach Boychuk (upper body). Speculation is that he has a concussion. . . . Kootenay D Matt Fraser suffered a separated shoulder in Game 3 and his season is over. . . .

In Seattle, LW Colton Yellowhorn’s PP goal 45 seconds into OT gave the Tri-City Americans a 3-2 victory over the Thunderbirds. . . . The Americans lead the series 3-1 with Game 5 in Kennewick, Wash., on Friday. . . . The Americans have won three straight in this series. . . . F Ian McKenzie, with his WHL-leading eighth playoff goal, gave Seattle a 1-0 lead in the first period. . . . F Shaun Vey, on the PP, tied it for the Americans late in the period and F Kruise Reddick gave the visitors the lead with a shorthanded score midway through the second. . . . Seattle F Greg Scott tied it shortly thereafter. . . . Seattle G Jacob De Serres stopped 37 shots, six more than Tri-City’s Chet Pickard. . . . Tri-City outshot Seattle 16-12 in a scoreless third period. . .. . The Thunderbirds, who were 1-5 in OT in the regular season, are 1-2 in extra time in these playoffs. . . . The Americans are 4-0 on the road in these playoffs. . . . Seattle D Thomas Hickey, the fourth pick in the NHL’s 2007 draft, hasn’t played since taking a knee to the head in the second period of the series opener. . . . Attendance was 3,133. . . .

In Vancouver, Spokane native Tyler Johnson’s third-period goal broke a 2-2 tie as the Chiefs dumped the Giants, 3-2. . . . Spokane holds a 2-1 lead with Game 4 in Vancouver on Friday night. . . . F Ondrej Roman and F David Rutherford also scored for the Chiefs. . . . Vancouver got goals from F Casey Pierro-Zabotel and F Mike Piluso. . . . Spokane was 0-for-4 on the PP; Vancouver was 0-for-3. . . . Johnson’s goal came at 5:48 of the third period as as a Stefan Ulmer slapshot got through G Tyson Sexsmith and Johnson was there to tap it home. . . . Spokane has surrendered only 13 goals through seven playoff games. . . . The Chiefs evened this series Sunday at home with a 4-1 victory after falling 4-1 on Friday. . . . Attendance was 7,115. . . . RW Michal Repik had one assists and now has at least one point in each of Vancouver’s seven playoff games. . . . The Giants’ PP now is 8-for-19 through seven games.
