Monday notes . . .

THE MacBETH REPORT: If you’re new to these parts, Garth MacBeth, a veteran hockey observer, keeps an eye on the European scene for us. . . . F Sean McAslan (Calgary) signs with Rödovre (Denmark Elitserien). He had 40 goals and 54 assists in 64 games for Nottingham Panthers this season, leading the UK Elite Ice Hockey League in goals. . . . F Scott Kelman (Seattle/Moose Jaw/Tri-City) signs with Coventry (UK Elite Ice Hockey League), where he also will attend Coventry University. He split time between Phoenix and Dayton in the ECHL this season. . . . Two Alberta Golden Bears have signed with teams in Germany’s Oberliga, the third level. F Tim Krymusa (Spokane) signed with Passau and F Dylan Stanley (Tri-City) signed with Rosenheim. . . . D Doug Lynch (Red Deer/Spokane) signs with Vienna Capitals. He had 12 goals and 24 assists in 60 games with Salzburg this season.

D Spencer Humphries, from the midget AAA Vancouver Canadians, has signed with the Tri-City Americans. Humphries, a 6-foot-2, 190-pounder from Delta, B.C., had six points and 18 penalty minutes in 40 games with the Canadians. He will attend the Americans‚ rookie camp, which opens Aug. 20, and take it from there. . . .

Paul Baxter, a former WHL and NHL defenceman, is the first head coach of the NAHL team that will play in Wenatchee, Wash., in the fall. The expansion franchise doesn’t yet have a nickname. . . . Meanwhile, the NAHL’s Texas Tornado is taking a year off while its building — the Deja Blue Ice Arena at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco — undergoes an expansion that will increase seating from 3,733 to 5,300.
