Thursday notes . . .

The Swift Current Broncos have a new public relations director. Keegan Goodrich, who had been handling marketing and radio play-by-play for the BCHL’s Merritt Centennials, has been hired by the Broncos to replace Tracy Lemon, who is returning to an area newspaper in the commercial print department. Goodrich starts work in Swift Current on June 16. . . .

The MJHL’s Winnipeg South Blues have hired Lyle Loewen as head coach. He was last a head coach in the MJHL with the Selkirk Steelers in 2005-06. Loewen played in the WHL for the Winnipeg Warriors (1981-82). He replaces Ken Pearson, who now is GM and head coach of the SJHL’s Battlefords North Stars. . . .

Nick Patterson of the Everett Herald is reporting that defenceman Jonathan Harty has decided not to return to the Everett Silvertips for his 20-year-old season. . . . Harty has decided to play for the U of New Brunswick, which is close to the family home in Oromocto. . . . "I'm all about moving forward," Harty told Patterson. "Where I'm at now, if I came back to the WHL I'd be in the exact same place as I was before, looking for a pro contract." . . . Everett head coach John Becanic told Patterson: "He was one of our top players in so many areas. He was our captain, he was our leader physically, he was our leader in passion, he was our only defenceman on our No. 1 power play, so we've got a lot of areas to fill." . . . Harty had 45 points in 65 games this season.
