Import day swaps . . .

The Kelowna Rockets dealt C Milan Kytnar, 19, and D Colin Joe, 20, to the Saskatoon Blades for a first-round pick in the 2008 import draft and a 2009 fifth-round bantam draft pick. . . . The Rockets used the import draft pick, 24th overall, to take RW Stepan Novotny, a native of Prague, Czech Republic, who won’t turn 18 until Sept. 21. He spent last season with the USHL’s Indiana Ice, totaling 11 points in 44 games. Before joining the Ice, Novotny was at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, the Faribault, Minn., prep school. . . . The Blades plan on going with Kytnar and D Jyri Neimi as their two import players next season. Kytnar, a fifth-round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL’s 2007 draft, had 22 points in 62 games last season. . . . Joe and returning F Mike Reich give the Blades two 20-year-olds. Joe spent four seasons with the Rockets, playing 248 regular-season games. He was a third-round pick in the 2003 bantam draft. . . .
