Wednesday . . .

I don’t mind people cutting and pasting stuff off this blog. But please, please, please give credit where and when credit is due. . . . That includes you vipersdiehardfan. . . . If you are going to lift stuff and post it elsewhere without giving credit, it’s called plagiarism. . . . So lift whatever you want, but just let people know where you got the information in the first place. . . .

Could we be headed to a showdown between the Moose Jaw Warriors and the Western Hockey League? . . . The WHL’s annual meeting opens Tuesday in Calgary. The league has told Moose Jaw that the Civic Centre doesn’t meet standards that have been established. The WHL also has been in talks with the city since 2003. And to listen to WHL commissioner Ron Robison, his message seems to say that the time for talking is over. . . . The latest on this story, from the Moose Jaw Times-Herald, is right here. . . .

The WHL’s Eastern Conference teams will gather in Calgary for their scheduling meeting on Monday. The Western Conference teams will handle their scheduling in Kelowna on July 24. . . . You have to wonder how much the rising price of diesel will figure in the talks. One WHL general manager told me Wednesday that, while he has yet to talk to the company that supplies his team’s bus, he wouldn’t be shocked if he was looking at a 25 per cent price increase. . . .

Veterans of the WHL wars likely are snickering at the news that the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League, a junior B circuit, will feature a first-round double round-robin tournament when it begins its playoffs in February. Some of the ugliest stories in WHL history originate with round-robin playoffs.
