Some notes . . .

JUNIOR JOTTINGS: The BCHL’s Williams Lake Timberwolves have hired former Lethbridge Hurricanes assistant coach Brad Fox as their head coach. What is interesting is that the Timberwolves are on leave from the BCHL and won’t play until 2009-10. Fox is head coach of the Kootenay International junior league’s Revelstoke Grizzlies, a junior B Team. Fox has been coaching in the KIJHL since 2003 and will coach the Grizzlies this season. . . . The BCHL rights of Chilliwack Bruins F Evan Pighin were on the move earlier this week, going form the Salmon Arm SilverBacks to the Victoria Grizzlies in exchange for RW Keenan Desmet. Both players are 20 years of age. Pighin began last season with Salmon Arm before joining the Bruins, for whom he had 48 points, including 22 goals, in 53 games. The Grizzlies are the host team for the 2009 Royal Bank Cup, the national junior A championship tournament.

THE MacBETH REPORT: F Matt Ellison (Red Deer) signed with Dinamo Riga (Continental Hockey League). He was with Milwaukee (AHL) last season.

There's a nice story in the Edmonton Sun about one of your favourite referees giving back to the game of hockey. Give it a read right here.
