Quiet Tuesday . . .

Randy Merkley is the new radio voice of the WHL’s Chilliwack Bruins. He takes over from Dave Sheldon, who has moved on to the Vancouver Giants. Merkley is no stranger to the WHL as he has called games for the Regina Pats and Moose Jaw Warriors.

THE COACHING GAME: The New York Islanders have signed Scott Gordon to replace the fired Ted Nolan as head coach. Gordon had been head coach of the AHL’s Providence Bruins. They are expected to promote assistant Rob Murray to head coach. . . . Still nothing from the AHL’s Rochester Americans, who are without a head coach. They are affiliated with the NHL’s Florida Panthers.
