THE SCORE
Kamloops 4, Everett 3 (OT)
WHAT HAPPENED
The Blazers didn’t win many battles in the game’s first 15 minutes, but
really took the play away from the visitors after that and won it on Kenton
Dulle’s overtime goal.
THE PENALTIES
The home side’s power play didn’t get a chance until 19:44 of the second
period, by which time Everett had skated five times with the man advantage.
Yes, Kamloops head coach Barry Smith had introduced himself to referees
Trevor Hanson and Sean Raphael by that time. Smith returned to the players’
bench well before the start of the third period and initiated a conversation
with Raphael.
THE LETTERS
Scott Wasden wore the ‘C’ as the Blazers’ captain. Smith has said alternates
won’t be named until RW Tyler Shattock and D Nick Ross return from pro
camps. Last night, only C C.J. Stretch was wearing an ‘A’. Shattock will be
given one upon his return.
THE OPENERS
The Blazers have opened their last seven regular seasons at home, going
5-2-0-0 in the process. That includes a 3-0-0-0 record against Everett,
which lost here, 6-4 and 4-1 respectively, to open the 2005-06 and 2003-04
seasons.
THE OPENERS II
The Blazers have opened 17 seasons in their present home arena — winning 11,
losing four and tying two. They have opened six times against the Seattle
Thunderbirds (5-1-0-0) and five times (3-2-0-0) against the Portland Winter
Hawks.
THE TRADE
D Shayne Brown, 19, was solid on the Everett defence. He was acquired last
week from Medicine Hat for D Tyler Kieffer, 19, who has yet to report to the
Tigers.
THE PROS
The Blazers were without three players who are at NHL camps — RW Brady Calla
(Florida), D Nick Ross (Phoenix) and RW Tyler Shattock (San Jose) — while
the Silvertips were without LW Kyle Beach (Chicago) and D Taylor Ellington
(Vancouver).

That game has been moved to Friday. So adjust your schedule.
