As expected, the game between the Swift Current Broncos and the Pats that was scheduled for Saturday has been moved to Sunday, 6 p.m. The move was necessitated by the CFL’s decision – or was it TSN’s decision? – to play its playoff games on Saturday’s this year. The B.C. Lions visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a western semifinal game on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. . . . . The following Saturday, with the CFL’s divisional finals scheduled, the Pats are to play the Raiders in Prince Albert. . . . I will leave it to brighter minds than mine to explain why TSN/CFL would schedule playoff games for Saturdays, meaning the second game will overlap with Hockey Night in Canada. Haven’t Sundays in November in Canada always been set aside for CFL playoff games?

The MJHL’s Winkler Flyers have re-acquired G Dayn Belfour, the 19-year-old son of former NHL goaltender Ed Belfour. The younger Belfour had left Winkler to play at St. Michael’s, the Toronto prep school. But after a short stint there, Belfour decided he wanted to return to the MJHL. So the Flyers cut a deal with St. Mike’s, and Belfour is back in Winkler, which is only a couple of slapshots from his dad’s hometown of Carman.
