The news is out.
It’s all over town.
The WHL office has dropped the hammer after that brawl between the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Hurricanes in Lethbridge on Wednesday night. The damage is 15 games in suspensions to a coach and three players.
Lethbridge head coach Michael Dyck drew a five-game suspension and a $500 fine for failing to control his players. Hurricanes F Dwight King got five games for leaving the bench and instigating a fight. F Craig Orfino of the Hurricanes got three games for leaving the bench.
The Hurricanes also were fined an additional $500 for having players leave the bench during an altercation.
Medicine Hat D Matt McCue got a two-game suspension.
I guess from that you can figure out where the WHL pointed the finger of blame.
There was some collateral damage, too, as sources have confirmed that Lethbridge radio station CJOC-FM has removed analyst Dick Gibson from its broadcast crew after he got a bit excited during the donnybrook. Play-by-play man Pat Siedlecki will be working solo tonight when the Hurricanes meet the visiting Prince George Cougars.
