Thursday . . .

The USHL’s Omaha Lancers added G Kris Lazaruk, 20, to their roster on Thursday. Lazaruk began this season with the Kootenay Ice before being traded to the Kelowna Rockets. He lost his spot with the Rockets on Saturday when they acquired G Mark Guggenberber, 19, from the Swift Current Broncos.

THE MacBETH REPORT: F Paul Vincent (Seattle/Swift Current) signed with Heerenveen (Netherlands) as the import replacement for D Cole Byers (Moose Jaw), who was released Wednesday. Vincent had 20 goals and 26 assists in 13 games with Rosenborg (Norway Division 1) this season. . . . D Anton Bader (Swift Current/Tri-City/Calgary/Seattle) moved from Duisburg (Germany DEL) to Herner ESV (Germany Oberliga). Bader, who holds a German passport, had five goals and three assists in 36 games with Duisburg this season. . . . F Adam Courchaine (Medicine Hat/Vancouver) signed a two-year contract extenion with Dusseldorf (Germany DEL). In his first season with Dusseldorf, Courchaine has 10 goals and 14 assists in 24 games.

Former Kamloops Blazers general manager Bob Brown is one five men who will be inducted into the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame in Penticton on July 24. Also going in will be former players Dave Babych and Bob Rouse, both of whom played in the WHL, and two builders — Father David Bauer and former sports reporter and long-time coach Grant Kerr. . . . Brown, who now scouts for the Edmonton Oilers, was the Blazers’ GM from 1986 through the completion of the 1995 Memorial Cup. He put together a team that reached five Memorial Cup tournaments and won three of them — 1992, 1994 and 1995. He was fired a couple of weeks after the Blazers won the 1995 Memorial Cup title on home ice. At the time, then-president Colin Day said it was, uhh, time for the organization to go in a different direction. . . . Don Hay and Tom Renney, who coached those Blazers teams to the Memorial Cup titles, already are in the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame. . . . Babych played for the Portland Winter Hawks (1977-80) before going on to play 1,195 games in the NHL. He is the president of the North Shore Minor Hockey Association on the Lower Mainland and served as an assistant coach for the Canadian team at this season’s Deutschland Cup in Germany. . . . Rouse, who played in the WHL with the Billings Bighorns, Nanaimo Islanders and Lethbridge Broncos (1980-84), played 1,061 NHL games and has two Stanley Cup rings, both from the Detroit Red Wings (1997, 1998). Rouse now is an assistant coach with the Chilliwack Bruins. . . . The late Father Bauer, who died in 1988, was a player, builder and coach whose name once was synonymous with Canada’s national team program. He won two Memorials Cups, one as a player and one as a coach. . . . Kerr was a long-time sports journalist who has had an extensive coaching career on the Lower Mainland.

D Jeff Regier of the Prince George Cougars has a heavy heart these days. Before being dealt to the Cougars, he was teammates with F Jordan Mistelbacher, the former Everett Silvertips player who was found dead in Winnipeg on Tuesday. JUST NOTES: C Colin Long (head) is expected to return to the Kelowna Rockets’ lineup this weekend. The Rockets are in Prince George for a Friday-Saturday doubleheader with the Cougars. . . . The Rockets are 4-0 versus the Cougars and have outscored them 23-7. . . . LW Daniel Bartek of the Everett Silvertips has had surgery to insert a pin in a fractured foot. He is expected to be out for at least a month. . . . Everett D Mike Alexander (concussion) won’t play Friday against the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds but may suit up for the rematch Saturday in Kent. . . . Everett also will be without F Ryan White (personal). . . . D Mark Schneider of the Brandon Wheat Kings is back practising after recovering from a broken ankle. He hasn’t played since Dec. 10. . . . G Brandon Glover will start for the Moose Jaw Warriors in the first of a home-and-home set with the Regina Pats. They’re in Regina on Friday and in Moose Jaw on Saturday. Glover, 16, has been with the major midget Victoria-South Island Thunderbirds. Veteran G Jeff Bosch (hip) is out indefinitely and has been out since Dec. 16. The result is that Deven Dubyk has played 12 games in a row, so he will rest Friday. . . . F Rudolf Cerveny, who played for the Czech Republic in the World Junior Championship, will be back in Regina’s lineup. He went home to Czech Republic after the tournament but was back at practice Thursday.

G Tyson Sexsmith stopped 12 shots for his third shutout this season as the visiting Vancouver Giants beat the Edmonton Oil Kings, 2-0. . . . Sexsmith, the WHL’s career shutout leader, now has 23 of them to his credit. . . . Vancouver beat the Oil Kings twice this season. The other meeting ended in a 6-0 score. . . . The Giants are 4-0 on an Alberta road swing that wraps up Friday night in Calgary.

F Max Reinhart’s goal at 4:03 of overtime gave the Kootenay Ice a 4-3 victory over the visiting Calgary Hitmen. . . . Reinhart is the son of former Calgary Flames D Paul Reinhart. . . . G Nathan Lieuwen stopped 33 shots for the Ice after being the losing goaltender in the Top Prospects Game in Oshawa the previous night. He didn’t take part in the pregame skate in Calgary because his equipment got lost en route to Calgary. It arrived 20 minutes before game time. . . . The Hitmen, who lead the Eastern Conference, play host to the Western Conference-leading Vancouver Giants on Friday night. . . . The will be televised by Shaw. . . . The teams next will meet March 6 in Vancouver.
