Blazers name three Legends

A press release issued Tuesday by the Kamloops Blazers:

KAMLOOPS, BC – The Kamloops Blazers Hockey Club is proud to announce the induction of three individuals - two builders and one player - as Blazer Legends: Andy Clovechok, Stu MacGregor, and Zac Boyer. The three will be recognized prior to the Friday, March 6th home game versus Portland.
“These three people have been instrumental in helping build the tradition of our franchise,” says Blazer Vice President and General Manager Craig Bonner. “We look forward to having their names added to the impressive list of Blazer Legends whose names are on the banners hanging at Interior Savings Centre.”
Boyer played for the Blazers from 1988 to 1992 – totalling 247 games, 119 goals, and 312 points – capping his junior career with the legendary Memorial Cup winning goal in the 1992 tournament in Seattle; a goal that gave the Blazers their first-ever Memorial Cup championship. “Playing in Kamloops taught me about being accountable in life,” said Boyer. “I’m grateful I had the privilege to play there.”
MacGregor was a member of the Blazers organization in some capacity from 1981 to 1998 – starting as a scout with the old Junior Oilers. He was promoted to the position of Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel in 1991 before taking over as General Manager in 1995. In 1998, Stu took a job as scout for the NHL’s Dallas Stars before joining the Edmonton Oilers as their Head Scout in 2007.
Clovechok has been around the junior hockey scene in Kamloops for many years and was an integral member of the Kamloops Blazers Board of Directors during the franchise’s long period of public ownership. He had a playing career which ran from 1941 to 1955 before getting into coaching, refereeing, and directing at the Minor Hockey level. He also scouted for various NHL teams before getting involved as a shareholder with the Kamloops Blazers in 1984. Andy has also been elected to both the Alberta and Kamloops Sports Halls of Fame and currently serves as Kamloops’ Ambassador to Hockey.
The Legends were selected by a six-member panel: Bonner, Clovechok, former Blazer Director Derek Johnston, Radio NL Sports Director Rick Wile, Kamloops Daily News Sports Editor Gregg Drinnan, and CFJC-TV Sports Director Earl Seitz.
