SUNDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS:
In Moose Jaw, F Joel Broda, the WHL’s top sniper, scored three times to help the Calgary Hitmen to an 8-4 victory over the Warriors. . . . Broda, who moved from Moose Jaw to Calgary at the trade deadline, increased his total to 45 this season. . . . The teams were tied 2-2 after one period, but Calgary scored four times in the second. That included two goals from F Kris Foucault. . . . Calgary F Brett Sonne also scored twice. . . .

In Spokane, the Prince George Cougars took a 3-0 lead into the third period and lost 5-3 to the Chiefs. . . . F Ondrej Roman broke a 3-3 tie at 19:21 of the third period. . . . LW Drayson Bowman had two of Spokane’s goals. . . . Spokane D Jared Spurgeon had three assists for an eight-point weekend. He had a goal and four helpers in Saturday’s 11-2 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings. . . . F Marek Viedensky scored twice for the Cougars. . . . Dallas Jackson, moved up from defence to play alongside Viedensky and rookie sensation Brett Connolly, also scored. . . . Prince George G Kevin Armstrong, who spent two-plus seasons with the Chiefs, faced 47 shots. . . . The Cougars were without C Justin Maylan (shoulder). . . . Spokane D Jared Cowen, outsince suffering a knee injury Jan. 30, will have reconstructive surgery Wednesday in Minneapolis. Yes, his season is over.

In Cranbrook, the Kootenay Ice got shootout goals from F Max Reinhart and F Tylan Stephens to beat the Red Deer Rebels, 4-3. . . . F Joe Antilla, 17, had two goals and an assist for the Ice. . . . F Landon Ferraro scored his 30th of the season for the Rebels. . . . The Ice’s Dominic Pacovsky forced OT with his sixth goal of the season at 8:12 of the third period. . . . The Ice was 1-for-7 on the PP, while the Rebels were 3-for-11.

In Kent, Wash., the Seattle Thunderbirds downed the Chilliwack Bruins 3-1 to move into sixth place in the Western Conference. . . . Seattle is one point behind the Kamloops Blazers and one ahead of the Everett Silvertips. . . . The Bruins led this one 1-0 on F Scott MacDonald’s third goal of the season in the second period. . . . Seattle F Prab Rai tied it with the Thunderbirds enjoying a 5-on-3 advantage at 1:08 of the third period and they won it on F Devon LeBlanc’s 12th goal at 7:13.

In Prince Albert, the Brandon Wheat Kings scored three times on the power play and beat the Raiders, 4-1. . . . F Matt Calvert scored twice for the Wheat Kings, giving him 19 on the season. . . . .G James Priestner stopped 22 shots for Brandon, which unleashed a 50-shot attack at Prince Albert G Steven Stanford.
