THE SCORE
Kamloops 3, Vancouver 1

WHAT HAPPENED
Justin Leclerc, the Blazers’ goaltender, stopped 58 shots. He should never
have to buy lunch in this town again.

THE STANDINGS
The Blazers (33-31-2-4) are fifth in the Western Conference, one point ahead
of the Seattle Thunderbirds (33-31-1-4), who beat the visiting Prince George
Cougars, 5-2.

THE SEASON SERIES
This was the last game between these teams this season. If you’re a Giants’
fan, your team was 5-2-0-1 against Kamloops; if you’re a Blazers’ fan, your
guys were 3-4-0-1 against Vancouver.

THE END
The Blazers finish the regular season by going home and home against the
Kelowna Rockets. They play here Friday and in the Little Apple on Saturday.

THE PLAYOFFS
The Blazers will open the playoffs on the road March 20, against either the
Rockets or the defending WHL and Memorial Cup-champion Spokane Chiefs. The
matchup will be decided over the weekend.

THE SCORING RACE
Vancouver C Casey Pierro-Zabotel, who was born in Ashcroft, is skating
towards the first WHL scoring title in the Giants’ eight-year history. He
had one assists last night and now has 112 points and a six-point lead over
F Brandon Kozun of the Calgary Hitmen.

THE SHOTS
The Blazers surrendered 59 shots last night, the fifth time they’ve allowed
at least 50 this season. They also gave up 59 on Feb. 10 in Calgary. They lost 8-1 to
the Hitmen on that occasion.
