In Kamloops, C Colin Long scored twice and C Cody Almond set up three goals as the Kelowna Rockets dumped the Blazers, 6-4. . . . The Rockets outshot Kamloops 16-0 in the first period and had 20 shots before the Blazers got one. . . . C Ian Duval added a goal and two assists for Kelowna. . . . C C.J. Stretch, honoured as the Blazers’ MVP prior to the game, had a goal and two assists for Kamloops. . . . Kelowna is 8-0-0-0 against Kamloops this season and will try to make it a clean sweep on Saturday at Prospera Place. . . . Attendance was announced as 5,729, the largest crowd ever to watch a WHL game in Kamloops.

In Moose Jaw, G Andrew Hayes stopped 19 shots and F Andrew Clark scored three times as the Brandon Wheat Kings whipped the Warriors, 8-0. . . . Hayes has three shutouts this season and six in his career. . . . Moose Jaw has been blanked five times this season. . . . Moose Jaw had the WHL’s worst home record (9-25-0-2) this season. . . . F Jay Fehr had a goal and three helpers for Brandon. . . . F Scott Glennie, who sat out five weeks with a broken elbow, scored his first goal since his return to Brandon’s lineup earlier in the week. . . . Clark, who has 40 goals, completed his hat trick at 2:53 of the second period.

In Spokane, LW Drayson Bowman had four points to lead the Chiefs to a 5-2 victory over the Tri-City Americans. . . . Bowman had two goals and two assists. He has 46 goals this season after sniping 42 last season. . . . After the teams staged an ugly brawl in Spokane and piled up 342 penalty minutes on Feb. 28, the arena was sold out for this one (10,538). There was one fight and nine minor penalties. . . . Tri-City G Chet Pickard, who suffered a concussion in that Feb. 28 game when he was run over by Spokane F Ryan Letts, wasn’t dressed. . . . Spokane G Dustin Tokarski stopped 29 shots in winning his 34th game. . . . The Chiefs, who were 0-for-3 on the PP, scored two shorthanded goals. As well, F Ondrej Roman came up empty on a penalty shot.

In Kent, Wash., the Portland Winter Hawks got goals from eight different players as they dropped the Seattle Thunderbirds, 9-1. . . . The Winter Hawks led 9-0 at one point in the second period. . . . With Jacob DeSerres (groin) still out, Seattle freshman G Calvin Pickard made his 15th straight start and went the distance. . . . F Brad Ross, the younger brother of Vancouver Giants D Nick Ross, had a goal and two assists for Portland.

In Chilliwack, F Ryan Howse’s shootout goal gave the Bruins a 3-2 victory over the Prince George Cougars. . . . Howse, who is from Prince George, also scored in regulation time. . . . It was Chilliwack’s first victory over Prince George in eight games this season. . . . C Brett Connolly scored once for Prince George. The 16-year-old freshman has 30 goals in what has been a terrific individual season. . . . F Kevin Sundher scored on a penalty shot for the Bruins. Sundher, another fine 16-year-old, has 18 goals. . . . The Bruins are in Everett on Saturday and in Portland on Sunday. That last game just might decide last place in the overall standings. Portland has a one-point lead over Chilliwack and Moose Jaw going into Saturday’s games.

In Vancouver, the Everett Silvertips stunned the Giants, 5-3. . . . Attendance was 12,141. . . . Vancouver, which lost 3-1 in Kamloops on Wednesday, now has missed two opportunities to move past the Calgary Hitmen and into first place in the overall standings. . . . Calgary has two games remaining — in Medicine Hat on Saturday and in Lethbridge on Sunday. The Giants finish up against visiting Prince George on Saturday. . . . The Giants have lost four of their last seven games. . . . Everett scored two first-period goals but the Giants took a 3-2 lead 36 seconds into the third period when Casey Pierro-Zabotel, the WHL scoring leader, counted his 35th of the season. . . . But Everett won it on goals from F Kellan Tochkin annd Byron Froese, both of whom have 19, and Shane Harper, with his 32nd. . . . Pierro-Zabotel has 114 points and an eight-point lead over Calgary F Brandon Kozun.

In Prince Albert, C Ryan McDonald scored in the shootout to give the Raiders a 5-4 victory over the Saskatoon Blades. . . . Saskatoon D Stefan Elliott forced OT with a goal with 6.4 seconds left in the third period. . . . Prince Albert G Garrett Zemlak stopped 50 shots. . . . The loser point allowed the Blades to clinch their first pennant since 1994. They will finish first in the East Division. . . . McDonald’s goal kept the Raiders’ playoff hopes alive. . . . The Raiders are tied with the Edmonton Oil Kings for the Eastern Conference’s last playoff berth. The Raiders complete their schedule in Saskatoon on Saturday. The Oil Kings go home-and-home with the Red Deer Rebels, starting Saturday in Red Deer. . . . Should Edmonton and Prince Albert be tied after Sunday, they’ll play a tiebreaker on Tuesday in Prince Albert.

In Swift Current, the Broncos doubled the Regina Pats, 6-3, in a game that meant nothing to the standings. . . . The Broncos will finish fourth in the Eastern Conference and meet the Medicine Hat Tigers in the first round; the Pats are out of the playoff picture. . . . Regina G Derek Tendler, who spent the season with the midget AAA Regina Pat Canadians, started in place of Damien Ketlo (ill) and stopped 31 shots.

The teams meet Saturday night in Cranbrook. . . . Lethbridge scored twice on the PP and also got a shorthanded goal from Zach Boychuk. He finished with two goals, giving him 27. . . . Lethbridge LW Carter Bancks had a goal, his 13th, and two assists.
