JUST NOTES: Mark Ferner, a former Kamloops Blazers player and coach, has signed a three-year extension as GM/head coach of the BCHL’s Vernon Vipers. That will take him through 2011-12. The Vipers, who are 78-34-3-5 in two regular seasons under Ferner, finished atop the Interior Conference this season, with a 42-14-1-3 record. . . . Vernon also signed assistant coach Jason Williamson through next season.
Big victory, and maybe a huge loss, in Moose Jaw on Tuesday night where the Warriors beat the Saskatoon Blades, 4-3. The Blades, with a 28-6-1-0 record away from home, had a chance to go five points up on the Brandon Wheat Kings in the scrap for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Wheat Kings remain three points back with three games to play. Saskatoon has two games remaining.
