The AHL’s Manitoba Moose has signed F Marty Murray to an AHL contract. Murray, 34, starred for the Brandon Wheat Kings (1991-95). His from Lyleton, Man., so is a natural fit for the Moose. Last season, Murray had 54 points in 76 games with the AHL’s Manchester Monarchs.

Condolences to former Prince Albert Raiders F Mark Odnokon and his family on the death of his father John, a former Raiders president. John, who was 78, was inducted into the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame as a builder in 2000 and is a lifetime member of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Besides Mark, John is survived by his wife, Lorraine, and children Mickey, Pam, Doug and Patrick and their families. . . . Prayer service is Thursday at 7 p.m., with the funeral Friday at St. Joseph's, 260 25th Street East in Prince Albert. A time for the funeral hadn't been set as of Monday evening.

Former WHL F Ryan Menei has signed with the ECHL’s Johnston Chiefs. Menei (Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, 2003-06) began last season in Europe but finished in the ECHL, putting up 32 points in 52 games with the Mississippi Sea Wolves.
