Friday . . . early

THE MacBETH REPORT: F Layne Ulmer (Swift Current, 1997-2001) signed a one-year contract with Asiago (Italy Serie A). He had 12 goals and 20 assists in 49 games for Graz 99ers (Austria, Erste Bank Liga) last season. . . . F Kris Beech (Calgary, 1996-2001) signed a six-week contract with Geneve-Servette (Swiss NL A). Beech has a six-month artist's contract with HV71 Jönköping (Sweden Elitserien) that will start after his Swiss contract expires. He had 17 goals and 17 assists in 45 games for HV71 last season.

The Prince George Cougars have signed F John Odgers, who turns 16 on Sept. 15. Odgers, from Spy Hill, Sask., is the son of former NHL and WHL player Jeff Odgers (Brandon 1986-90) who now scouts for the Cougars. John walked on with the Cougars, had a good camp and will play this weekend at the tournament in Everett. He had 25 points in 33 games with the midget AA Yorkton Terriers last season.

The Prince Albert Raiders have re-assigned D Austin Frank, 16. From Calgary, Frank plans to go to camp with the AJHL’s Calgary Royals. He played for the midget AAA Calgary Buffaloes last season. He was a fifth-round pick in the 2008 bantam draft. . . . The Raiders are down to 26 players, including three goaltenders and nine defencemen.

The ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones have signed F Kenton Dulle, who played out his WHL eligibility with the Kamloops Blazers last season. Dulle had 59 points in 65 games with the Blazers last season. A native of Regine, Dulle also played for the Vancouver Giants and Saskatoon Blades during his WHL career.

The Saskatoon Blades aren’t going anywhere on the radio dial. They have entered into a four-year agreement with the Saskatoon Media Group, parent company of 92.9 The Bull, to carry all regular-season and playoff games for the next four seasons. The Blades have been with SMG since 1994. Les Lazaruk is returning for his 16th season as the voice of the Blades.
