More from Tuesday . . .

A bit more on a trade that was mentioned here earlier in the day. . . . The Kelowna Rockets, with veteran G Mark Guggenberger, 20, hobbled by sore groins, acquired G Warren Shymko from the Tri-City Americans for a 2010 ninth-round bantam draft pick. . . . With Guggenberger unable to play, G Adam Brown will start his fifth straight exhibition game Friday against the visiting Vancouver Giants. . . . Shymko, 17, was a fifth-round pick by the Americans in the 2007 bantam draft. He was in the Americans’ camp before being reassigned to the SJHL’s Yorkton Terriers. . . . “He was one of the top goalies in the Saskatchewan league,” Rockets president/GM Bruce Hamilton told Doyle Potenteau of the Kelowna Daily Courier. “We needed to get somebody in here to back Brown up because there’s no certainty as to when Mark will be ready to play. “We think it’s a matter of time when Mark is ready to go. But, for now, it’s the uncertainty of how long it’s going to take to get him back and ready to go, so we had to add another guy so we have two guys who can play at any time.” . . . Shymko spent the last two seasons with the midget AAA Saskatoon Contacts. Last season, he was 18-4-3 with a 2.27 GAA and a .914 save percentage.

The Prince Albert Raiders have acquired LW Craig McCallum, 20, from the Edmonton Oil Kings for a conditional 2010 bantam draft pick. McCallum played two seasons with the Oil Kings, totaling 75 points in 139 games. . . . The Raiders now have four 20-year-olds, the others being F Dustin Cameron, D Patrick Kozyra and G Garrett Zemlak. . . . The trades leaves the Oil Kings with four 20s – F Brett Breitkreuz, G Torrie Jung, D Drew Nichol and D Garrett Thiessen.

The Kamloops Blazers got their roster down to 29 players by reassigning F Uriah Machuga, 17, and D Max Mowat, 16, on Tuesday. . . . Machuga started last season with the Blazers and got into 18 games before being sent home. He is from Norco, Calif. . . . Mowat, a list player from Coldstream, B.C., is likely to open the season with the Okanagan Rockets of the B.C. major midget league. . . . The Blazers are carrying two goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 17 forwards, including the five players who are at NHL camps.

The Prince George Cougars returned home from the Everett tournament, where they went 1-1-0-1, and Tuesday trimmed their roster to 25 by reassigning six forwards and two defencemen. They’ll play in Kamloops on Friday with the Blazers traveling to Prince George for a Saturday game.

The Tri-City Americans have reassigned F Braeden Adamyk, 19, to the SJHL’s Kindersley Klippers. Adamyk, from Neepawa, Man., had 10 points in 66 games with the Edmonton Oil Kings in 2007-08. He played last season with the Klippers.

If you are at all interested in the ongoing saga of the NHLPA and its dismissal of Paul Kelly as its executive director, this right here is the best story I have read to date.
