THE MacBETH REPORT: D Renat Mamashev (Moose Jaw, 2000-01) has been traded by Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod (Russia KHL) to Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk (Russia KHL) for a second-round pick in the 2010 KHL junior draft. He had one goal and one assist in eight games this season after getting seven goals and nine assists in 51 games last season for Torpedo. . . . F Johannes Salmonsson (Spokane, 2005-06) has had his tryout contract with Davos (Swiss NL A) extended one more month to Dec. 15. This is the second one-month extension of Salmonsson's tryout contract. He has four goals and five assists in 15 games for Davos.

F Michael Small, who has had turns in the WHL with the Prince Albert Raiders and Chilliwack Bruins, is on the move again. Earlier this season, the AJHL’s St. Albert Steel dealt him to the Brooks Bandits. Now the Bandits have sent Small, 19, to the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

There is an interesting connection between F Brennan Tutt, 17, of the Seattle Thunderbirds and general manager Russ Farwell. It turns out that Farwell coached Tutt’s father, Brian, with the AJHL’s Calgary Canucks some 30 years ago. Yes, Brennan is the son of Brian, who played two seasons (1980-82) with the WHL’s Calgary Wranglers. Brian was a defenceman who went on to a pro career that began in 1982 and finished in 2001. His pro career included seven games in the NHL, with the Washington Capitals, and stops in the Central, International and American leagues, Germany, Austria, Finland and Sweden. He also was a six-time member of Canada’s national team. . . . Two seasons ago, Brennan was at Notre Dame in Wilcox, Sask. Last season, he played at the Ontario Hockey Academy, a prep school in Cornwall, Ont. He had 55 points in 45 games there. . . . He is still looking for his first WHL point after getting into 10 games with the Thunderbirds.

In Prince Albert, F Dustin Cameron scored three times to help the Raiders to a 9-2 victory over the Prince George Cougars. . . . F James Dobrowolski opened the scoring for the Cougars at 1:46 of the first period. . . . The Raiders (11-10-0-2) scored the next nine goals. . . . Cameron has 11 goals this season. . . . D Jordan Hickmott drew four assists, while D Jordan Rowley earned three. . . . G Dalyn Flett stopped 25 shots for the Raiders. . . . Dean Clark, the Cougars’ head coach, drafted Flette and Rowley while he was with Kamloops Blazers. . . . Flette stopped F Parker Stanfield on a penalty shot. . . . F Craig McCallum scored the Raiders’ first two goals before the first period was 10 minutes old. He has 11 this season. . . . F Andrew Herle got his first two WHL goals in his 23rd game with the Raiders. . . . Attendance was 2,346. . . . The Raiders were 4-for-5 on the PP; the Cougars (3-16-1-1) were 1-for-5. . . . Raiders D Ryan Aasman only had one assist but was plus-4.

In Regina, the Warriors erased a 2-0 second-period deficit and went on to beat the Pats, 4-3. . . . F Antonin Honejsek scored twice for Moose Jaw (14-8-0-0), his second goal, at 7:07 of the third period, breaking a 2-2 tie. Honejsek has three goals this season. . . . Moose Jaw F Brendan Rowinski upped the lead to 4-2 with his 15th goal, before F Jordan Eberle got his 16th for the Pats (10-10-2-0). . . . Attendance was 5,237. . . . Moose Jaw F Dylan Hood, the third player on the line with Honejsek and Rowinski, added a goal and two assists. Hood had been out for three games with the flu. . . . Moose Jaw G Jeff Bosch stopped 37 shots in his return from a hip injury. . . . Regina G Damien Ketlo stopped 39 shots. . . . Regina had a four-game winning streak halted. . . . Regina thought it had tied the game with 43 seconds left in the third period when F Brett Leffler got the puck into the net past Bosch. However, it was ruled that Bosch had the puck covered long enough for a whistle before it went over the line. “That’s five goals we’ve lost this year in a system that’s supposed to have video review,” Regina head coach Curtis Hunt told Greg Harder of the Regina Leader-Post. “That’s gotta be the biggest waste of money I’ve ever seen.” . . . The Pats and Warriors meet again Saturday, this time in the Crushed Can.

In Lethbridge, F Kruise Reddick scored three times to lead the Tri-City Americans to a 4-2 victory over the Hurricanes. . . . Reddick has eight goals this season. . . . Linemates Sergei Drozd and Brooks Macek each had three assists. . . . Tri-City G Drew Owsley, who is from Lethbridge, stopped 24 shots. . . . Attendance was 3,383. . . . It was Reddick’s second career hat trick. He has 18 points in his last 14 games. . . . The Americans improved to 16-4-0-0, while the Hurricanes slipped to 8-12-2-0. . . . The Hurricanes had won three in a row. . . . F Brendan Shinnimin also scored for the Americans. He has a team-high 16 goals and has scored six times in his last five games. . . . The Americans play the Kootenay Ice on Saturday in Cranbrook. The Americans have just four victories in 16 regular-season trips to Cranbrook.

In Brandon, Saskatoon G Steven Stanford stopped 44 shots, including a third-period penalty shot as the Blades beat the Wheat Kings, 4-3. . . . Stanford stopped F Matt Calvert at 14:10 of the third period to preserve that 4-3 lead. . . . Saskatoon F Derek Hulak gave the Blades a 4-2 lead on the PP at 3:20 of the third period. . . . Calvert scored on the PP six minutes later. . . . Brandon G Andrew Hayes turned aside 25 shots. . . . Saskatoon D Stefan Elliott had a goal and two assists. . . . The Blades (17-3-0-3) are 9-0-0-1 in their last 10 games. . . . Attendance was 4,664. . . . Brandon (12-9-0-2) was 2-for-6 on the PP; Saskatoon was 1-for-3.

In Kamloops, F Jonathan Parker scored three times to lead the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 7-2 victory over the Blazers. . . . It was the 18-year-old Parker's first WHL hat trick. He has 10 goals. . . . F Prab Rai added two goals and an assist for Seattle, which got three assists from F Luke Lockhart. . . . Attendance was 4,259. . . . The Thunderbirds (6-12-1-3) are into a stretch of playing 12 of 13 games on the road. They meet the Silvertips in Everett on Saturday and the Giants in Vancouver on Sunday. . . . The Blazers (10-11-2-0) play the Chiefs in Spokane on Saturday. . . . Mark Lamb, the GM/head coach of the Swift Current Broncos was in Kamloops on Friday night. He soon will have to make a decision on a 20-year-old as there will be four on his roster when F Matt Tassone (shoulder) is cleared to play. So let the rumours begin.

In Vancouver, F James Henry scored twice to help the Giants to a 4-1 victory over the Red Deer Rebels. . . . The game was tied 1-1 when F Brendan Gallagher sniped his 12th of the season the PP at 13:13 of the second period and Henry added his ninth just 19 seconds later. . . . F J.T. Barnett added his 13th midway through the third period. . . . Red Deer got its goal from F Andrej Kudrna, who came over from the Giants in an October swap. . . . Attendance was 9,836. . . . The Giants are 15-6-1-2; the Rebels are 11-9-1-0. . . . The teams engaged in a multiple-fight situation in the game’s dying seconds. The WHL’s coffers will be swelling, and just in time for Christmas. . . . In something of a rare situation, Vancouver G Jamie Tucker took delay of game penalties 27 seconds apart in the first period. He was penalized for smothering a puck he could have played and then took a delay penalty after shooting the puck out of play. Kudrna scored on the PP. . . . Vancouver F Cass Mappin, who went the other way in the Kudrna deal, sat this one out with a separated shoulder. . . . Vancouver D Zach Hodder, a 16-year-old from Delta, B.C., injured a shoulder in the first period and didn’t return.

In Calgary, F Kris Foucault scored the only shootout goal as the Hitmen edged the Medicine Hat Tigers, 3-2. . . . These teams have met twice this season and Calgary has won both games in the shootout. . . . Medicine Hat freshman F Emerson Etem forced OT with his 17th goal, at 7:48 of the third on the PP. . . . The Tigers (11-9-2-3) were 2-for-7 on the PP; Calgary (18-6-0-0) was 1-for-5. . . . Calgary F Brandon Kozun, who leads the WHL scoring derby, had his point streak halted at 16 games. . . . The game’s key goal may have come as time ran out in the second period, with Calgary D Mark Stone scoring his 10th of the season on the PP. That gave Calgary a 2-1 edge. . . . Foucault, who picked up 12 penalty minutes in 22 with the Hitmen last season, earned 21 minutes in this game. . . . Calgary G Martin Jones stopped 27 shots through OT and was perfect through three circus shooters. . . . Medicine Hat G Tyler Bunz stopped 25 shots. . . . Attendance was 7,414.

In Everett, F Shane Harper and F Tyler Maxwell each scored twice to spark the Silvertips to a 4-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets. . . . LW Scott MacDonald had two assists for the Silvertips. He has five points in six games. . . . Everett was 2-for-5 on the PP; Kelowna was 2-for-7. . . . Attendance was 5,695. . . . The Silvertips (12-5-1-0) last played at home on Oct. 24. . . . In the interim, they went 5-1-1-0 on a road trip that took them into the Central Division. . . . The Rockets (11-9-1-0) got a PP goal from F Stepan Novotny, his 13th this season.
