Leclerc, Walker updates

The MJHL’s Winnipeg Saints are going to take a look at G Justin Leclerc, 20, who was released by the Kamloops Blazers when they acquired G Kurtis Mucha, 20, on Nov. 22. Leclerc cleared WHL waivers on Nov. 25 and has been exploring his options since then. . . . The Saints have received permission from the SJHL’s La Ronge Ice Wolves to talk with Leclerc. The Ice Wolves acquired his junior A rights from the Melville Millionaires on Dec. 1. . . . One source said Leclerc was on his way to the USHL’s Lincoln Stars and has decided to stop off and check out the Saints. . . . The Saints have two goaltenders on their roster, Kent Henry and Christian Peloquin. Henry has played in 1,128 minutes with a 2.93 GAA, while Peloquin is at 2.58 in 790 minutes. Henry, 20, is from Eddystone, Man., while Peloquin, 19, is form Winnipeg.

The Portland Winterhawks paid a steep price for a 4-3 overtime victory over the Silvertips in Everett on Tuesday night. . . . LW Luke Walker took a puck in the mouth area late in the third period and didn’t return. He underwent surgery Wednesday morning at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland and will be out indefinitely. . . . A Winterhawks spokesperson said that Walker’s jaw “isn’t broken. The injury was more to the mouth area than the jaw. Beyond that, we’ve been told it’ll be a few more days until a full prognosis.” . . . As well, Portland lost F Spencer Bennett to an ankle injury in the first period. He, too, is out indefinitely.
