JUST NOTES: The Moose Jaw Warriors have returned D Joel Edmundson to the midget AAA Brandon Wheat Kings and D Morgan Rielly, the second overall pick in the 2009 bantam draft, to the SJHL’s Notre Dame Hounds. Neither player got into a game with the Warriors. Edmundson was a sixth-round pick in 2008. . . . F Danny Gayle, a 17-year-old whom the Warriors brought in from the AJHL’s Lloydminster Bobcats, has a goal and two assists in three WHL games. . . . The Kootenay Ice is on a six-game winning streak and, in fact, is 17-4-1-2 since Oct. 30. . . . Ice head coach Mark Holick is one victory shy of 100, while the Ice is four short of 500. . . . Mike Williamson, the head coach of the Calgary Hitmen, needs four victories to reach 250. He has 219 with the Portland Winterhawks and 27 with the Hitmen. . . .

The Regina Pats had a 29-year-old goaltender practice with them Monday. The Pats, with just one healthy goaltender, brought in Cory Unser, a former WHL defenceman (Brandon, 1998-2000), to support Brett Martyniuk in practice. In real life, Unser is the goaltender for the Shockers of Regina’s Adult Safe Hockey League A Division. Unser knows Todd Ripplinger, the Pats’ director of scouting, who asked him to help out. . . . The Pats are without injured goaltenders Damien Ketlo (shoulder) and Dawson Guhle (groin), while Joel Danyluk, who has been on the bench the last couple of games, returned to the SJHL’s La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Some interesting chatter right here about the World Junior Championship as it draws to a conclusion in Saskatoon. Would be nice to be a fly on the wall when Hockey Canada begins the navel-gazing that always follows these events.
