If you haven’t seen what is right here, check it out. It’s a piece at sportspickle.com on the NHL and Haiti.

Finally, finally, finally . . . it has happened. The NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning have seen the light and returned F James Wright to the Vancouver Giants. Wright, who turns 20 on March 24, stuck with the Lightning coming out of training camp. But his playing time has diminished as the season has gone on. A fourth-round pick in the 2008 NHL draft, he finishes this stint with Tampa Bay with five points in 48 games. . . . And just like that the Giants get bigger -- Wright is 6-foot-3 and about 200 pounds -- and there playoff chances get that much better. Last season, his third with the Giants, Wright had 47 points, including 21 goals, in 71 games. . . . According to Steve Ewen of the Vancouver Province, Wright will head for his family’s home in Saskatoon on Friday and stay there until joining the Giants in Vancouver on Wednesday. . . . Wright’s place on the Lightning’s roster goes to F Nate Thompson, who was claimed off waivers from the New York Islanders. Thompson also is a WHL product (Seattle, 2001-05).

The Kelowna Rockets have struggled in 2010, but the same can’t be said for D Tyson Barrie. The 18-year-old is No. 2 among WHL defencemen with 47 points and is closing in on a franchise record. Barrie has 145 career points, behind only Josh Gorges (152) and Mike Card (147). . . . The Rockets, who have lost 12 of their last 13 games, will spend the weekend in Prince George. They meet the Cougars there on Friday and Saturday nights.

This blogger is taking the rest of the evening off, and maybe the next day or two, as well. You see, there are some WHL players whose phone numbers I have and I am about to begin pestering them.
