Because of Canada's victory over the United States in the men's hockey gold medal game at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games on Sunday, Jay Varady, the associate coach of the Everett Silvertips, lost a bet.
Varady, a native of Cahokia, Ill., followed through with his end of the bet and wore a Hockey Canada warmup suit during a Silvertips practice.
Of course, before you shed too many tears for Varady, remember that he was USA Hockey's video co-ordinator at the 2010 World Junior Championship, which was won by the U.S.
Between Varady and Everett head coach Craig Hartsburg, who is beside Varady in the photo, Silvertips coaches have won gold medals at three of the last four WJC tournaments.
