Western Conference stars . . .

The WHL has announced the Western Conference’s all-star teams and individual awards finalists. The Eastern Conference all-stars and finalists were revealed on Wednesday. The player of the year finalists will be announced on April 14. Winners of all awards will be announced at a luncheon in Edmonton on April 28. Here are the Western Conference selections (x – denotes unanimous selection):
FIRST ALL-STAR TEAM
Goal -- Calvin Pickard, Seattle Thunderbirds.
Defence -- Tyson Barrie, Kelowna Rockets; Kevin Connauton, Vancouver Giants.
Forwards -- x-Craig Cunningham, Vancouver Giants; Kyle Beach, Spokane Chiefs; Mitch Wahl, Spokane Chiefs.
SECOND ALL-STAR TEAM
Goal -- Drew Owsley, Tri-City Americans.
Defence -- Jared Cowen, Spokane Chiefs; Radko Gudas, Everett Silvertips.
Forwards -- Shane Harper, Everett Silvertips; Nino Niederreiter, Portland Winterhawks; Prab Rai, Seattle Thunderbirds.

Rookie of the Year -- Shane McColgan, Kelowna Rockets.
