DAY 5 AT THE MASTERCARD MEMORIAL CUP . . .
SECOND PERIOD:
Windsor needs more commitment to getting the puck in deep and then working for it. Right now, there are too many turnovers. . . . Now it’s 2-1 Windsor. It comes off the rush and F Justin Shugg finishes it with a two-foot tap-in. . . . F Taylor Hall gets an assist. He kicks the puck up to his stick and presents Shugg with an open net. . . . I want to be the fly on the wall as the Edmonton Oilers’ scouts meet the night before the NHL draft opens. . . . Now we’ll see what kind of stuff the Wildcats are made of. . . . Windsor F Zack Kassian just took a teammate’s slapshot to the back. That one hurt. He’s on the bench now. . . . Moncton is 4-on-3 and Gabriel Bourque’s stick explodes on the one-timer from the right side. . . . Windsor’s Adam Henrique roughs up Randy Cameron in a net-front scrum. Off to the side, Hall is tickling the left leg of F Kelsey Tessier with his blade. . . . It’s a funny crowd tonight. The fans just seem to be here, if you know what I mean. They mostly are observing, as opposed to taking part. . . . Owen takes another high shot and there’s another bruise. . . . F Dale Mitchell comes down the left side and shoots high on Owen. Must be the scouting report. . . . Philly 3, Montreal 0 and there is applause. Lots of it. . . . Philly gets into the playoffs because the now-injured Brian Boucher stops Olli Jokkinen in a shootout and now the Flyers are two victories from the Stanley Cup final. . . . So how much was that Boucher save worth? . . . It’s fun to watch Hall in his zone. He is so aware and the moment a teammate gains possession, he’s gone. . . . Sounded like a post at the far end. Tough to see that far at my age! . . . Also looking through the netting here. . . . Yes, there’s the replay. Windsor fired one off the cross-bar. . . . Hall’s got some acting in his game, too. He takes a shot in the back from D David Savard, and flies through the air with the greatest of ease, looking to the referee all the time. Referees aren’t buying tickets to that show tonight. . . . Moncton F Devon MacAusland goes off without his helmet and a hand to his face. Not sure what happened but he’s getting looked at on the bench. . . . Hall sets up Scott Timmins and he puts it high and wide of the open side. . . . The period is over. Windsor leads 2-1, but Moncton has a 26-19 edge in shots. . . . Moncton has to create more chances in the third period. It’s score two goals or go home. . . . Windsor is going to be well-rested for Sunday's final. Lots of time off between now and then, and its fourth line is getting ample playing time tonight.
