Day 5 . . . working OT

DAY 5 AT THE MASTERCARD MEMORIAL CUP . . .

FIRST OVERTIME:
OK. First goal wins it. . . . Moncton scores and lives to play again. . . . If Windsor scores, Moncton is the first team out of this event. . . . Windsor coaches are at the bench with more than two minutes left in the intermission. . . . Windsor head coach Bob Boughner has Hall, his difference-maker, on the ice to open the OT. . . . Hall gets his second shift with 17:57 to play. . . . I’m thinking Boughner wants this thing to end right now. . . . If you want to have some fun at future games, surf on over to Yahoo!Sports and take part in the live blog there. . . . Shots are 5-1 for Windsor in the early going. . . . Hall is out there again. With 14:30 left. . . . Big hit by Windsor’s Marc Cantin on David Pettersson. Not supposed to see those at this stage of a game. . . . Another great chance for Windsor and it goes over top of the net. . . . Shots now are 8-1. . . . Hall is out there after two minutes. . . . A TV timeout in OT. Don’t see that too often. . . . Moncton’s Simon Jodoin fans on a clearing attempt and G Shane Owen bails him out. . . . Give Owen the first star right now. . . . There it is. It’s over. . . . Windsor presses and presses and finally they get one past Owen. Shots were 13-2 in OT. . . . It’s Eric Wellwood with the winner, rifling it home from fairly close in after some big Windsor pressure. And a big round of applause from the fans for a fine show tonight. . . . Owen is my first star. Give Wellwood the second star — he had a strong game even without the goal. And give the third star to Windsor G Philipp Grubauer. . . . No game Thursday night as a tiebreaker won’t be needed. . . . It’s Brandon and Calgary on Wednesday night.
