Saturday . . .

The Moncton Wildcats are one victory away from clinching the QMJHL championship and booking a spot in the Memorial Cup that opens Friday in Brandon. . . . The Wildcats got two goals from Devon MacAusland as they dropped thost Saint John Sea Dogs 5-1 on Saturday night to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of seven series. . . . Game 6 is to be played Monday night in Moncton. . . . Game 7, if needed, would be played Tuesday in Saint John. . . . The winner of the QMJHL title will play its first game at the Memorial Cup on Saturday afternoon against the WHL-champion Calgary Hitmen.

F Nino Niederreiter of the Portland Winterhawks is on the roster of the Swiss team at the world championship in Germany. He played eight minutes 32 seconds on Saturday as the Swiss opened with a 3-1 victory over Latvia in Mannheim. . . . Portland head coach Mike Johnston also has joined Switzerland. He is assisting Swiss head coach Sean Simpson.
