The third period . . .

THIRD PERIOD: Brandon scores 35 seconds into the period, with Calvert, Schenn and Glennie scoring off the rush. . . . It’s 9-2. . . . But right before the goal, the Spitfires came through the neutral zone and all five Wheat Kings were retreating. . . . Tom Cochrane, who will perform here next Saturday, turned 57 on Friday. Happy birthday to a fellow Lynn Laker. . . . Brandon F Jay Fehr is getting looked at on the bench after taking a hit from Derek Lanoue. Might be cut around the mouth. . . . Brandon F Mark Stone got slashed and there wasn’t a call. So he wants to dance with D Craig Duininck, who obliges. Stone dominates and Brandon has what may be its only victory of the night. . . . Duininck wasn’t even the slasher. Sometimes you’re just in the wrong place at the wrong time. . . . It’s getting a bit chippy out there and you wonder where Brandon’s emotion was a whole lot earlier. . . . The winner of the 50-50 goes home with $13,115. . . . No, it wasn’t me. . . . It’s 9-2 with seven minutes left and the 50-50 number has been announced. Yes, fans are heading for the exits. . . . Others are hanging around. Perhaps they are the fight fans? . . . Brandon scores and now it’s 9-3 with 6:32 left. You know that Brandon GM/head coach Kelly McCrimmon talked in the dressing room in the second intermission about winning the third period. Brandon is ahead 2-0 in this period. . . . In fact, Brandon has scored three of the last four goals. Too bad for the Wheaties that it was 8-0 when they got started. . . . Windsor got two goals from each of Taylor Hall, Adam Henrique and Scott Timmins. . . . Windsor D Mark Cundari, perhaps the best player on the ice, hd two assists and was plus-5. . . . It’s over. Mercifully. . . . Windsor, which started the 2009 Memorial Cup with two losses, and then won four in a row, wins this one, 9-3. Shots are 43-33. . . . Back after the postgame stuff.
