He's going to Carolina . . .

Sheldon Ferguson has returned to the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, this time as an amateur scout. He had been the assistant GM with the Swift Current Broncos. . . . The Broncos are expected to promote Jamie Porter, the director of scouting and player personnel, to assistant GM under Mark Lamb, the club’s GM and head coach. . . . Earlier in his career, Ferguson spent 12 seasons with the Hurricanes, including a stint as director of amateur scouting. He also spent four years a director of scouting with Hockey Canada. . . . At the same time as they hired Ferguson, the Hurricanes announced that they aren't renewing the contracts of scouts Greg Stefan, Phil Horner and Mario Marois.
