THE MacBETH REPORT:
D Wade Skolney (Brandon, 1996-2002) signed a one year contract with Jesenice (Slovenia, plays in Austria Erste Bank Liga). He did not play last season but had one goal and five assists in 46 games for Straubing Tigers (Germany DEL) two seasons ago.

The Tri-City Americans have hired Barclay Parneta as their prospect development coach and head scout. In the Americans’ realigned hockey operations department, Parneta replaces the retired Terry Bangen, who had been director of player personnel and assistant general manager. Although retired, Bangen retains the title of senior advisor of hockey operations. . . . Parneta will answer directly to GM Bob Tory. . . . Parneta has been involved in hockey as a scout for 21 years, most recently spending two seasons with the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes. . . . Parenta begins work with the Americans on Aug. 15. . . . The Americans are expected to name Scott Beattie as an assistant coach today to replace Terry Virtue, who resigned citing personal reasons and has since signed with the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack. . . . Beattie and Tri-City head coach Jim Hiller go way back and, in fact, were teammates for three seasons at Northern Michigan.

Doug Hedley, who resigned late last month as head coach of the AJHL’s Olds Grizzlys, is the new head coach of the BCHL’s Quesnel Millionaires. . . . Glen Watson has stepped aside as head coach but will remain general manager. . . . Hedley had signed a three-year contract with Olds in June but resigned late last month.

F Brett o’Malley (Lethbridge, Calgary, 2000-05) has signed on with the ECHL’s Ontario Reign. O’Malley played the last five seasons with the U of Calgary Dinosaurs, totalling 104 points and 210 penalty minutes in 149 games.
