I am told by a highly reliable source that a "big" trade is in the works between the Regina Pats and Tri-City Americans. When you think about it, this is not a surprise.
The Pats have eight victories in 30 games and four of those are over the Swift Current Broncos. General manager Chad Lang, who is in his first season with the Pats, has to be itching to make some changes in an attempt to get things turned around, or at least start accumulating draft picks so that the franchise can take the proper fork in the road at some point down the road.
Bob Tory, the general manager of the Americans, has never been shy about pulling the trigger. Hey, they don't call him Trader Bob for nothing.
Seriously, Tory likes to do his business well in advance of the trade deadline. He knows that the waters are often much muddier around Jan. 10.
The Portland Winterhawks have lost six of seven but still hold a 13-point lead over the Americans. Still, Tory would like nothing better than to put some pressure on his division rivals.
Stay tuned.
