Greg Harder of the Regina Leader-Post is writing that Regina Pats president Brent Parker has come under fire for not trading a couple of his aces last season. Apparently, there are people out there who feel Parker should have dealt F Jordan Eberle for what the Brandon Wheat Kings got for F Brayden Schenn on Monday, or what the Swift Current Broncos got for F Cody Eakin on Sunday. Except for one problem . . . those kinds of offers weren’t out there a year ago. . . . These situations provide classic cases of how the market can shift from one year to the next. . . . Harder’s story is right here.

If you haven’t seen it already, there is a Daily News video on YouTube in which WHL commissioner Ron Robison is interviewed by reporter Cam Fortems following the meeting that took place in the Kamloops Daily News’ boardroom on Tuesday.
That video is right here.

The man’s name is Bill Montague and he works for the Sault Star. Here is his take on the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds. If you want to see someone being critical of a major junior hockey team, check this out right here.

They’re bracing for a major winter storm in Spokane, where the Chiefs and the Kootenay Ice are to play the WHL’s first outdoor game on Saturday. . . . Sally Showman of KXLY4 in Spokane has a story right here.

JUST NOTES: The Swift Current Broncos have assigned G Derek Tendler, who turned 19 on Jan. 1, to the MJHL’s Winnipg Saints. Tendler got into seven games with the Broncos, going 1-2-0, 3.77, .878. . . . F Dane Muench, who was assigned by the Regina Pats to the SJHL’s Battlefords North Stars last week, was traded Monday to the BCHL’s Vernon Vipers for future considerations. . . . The Pats have assigned F Michael Sagen, 17, to the Melville Millionaires. Sagen, who has one goal in 17 games, will spend this week with Regina and then join the Millionaires. . . . The Brandon Wheat Kings have designated F Wheaton King, 18, and F Mark Mieritz, 19, for assignment. King, who is from Brandon, has 11 points in 38 games. Mieritz, who played for his native Denmark in the IIHF Group B World Junior Championship, had six points in 31 games. . . . King is with the SJHL’s Kindersley Klippers and scored the winner in a 5-2 victory over the host Yorkton Terriers last night. . . . There were eight trades in the WHL on Monday. Meanwhile, the BCHL’s Prince George Spruce Kings made seven trades themselves. Don’t believe it? Check it out right here. . . . And if anyone has a count of how many junior A trades there were in the four western leagues, I would love to see a number.
