Late last year, Tom Gaglardi, the owner of the NHL’s Dallas Stars and the majority owner of the WHL’s Kamloops Blazers, was fined $140,000 after being convicted in a Kamloops courtroom of two counts of harmful alteration of salmon habitat. The Crown, which had asked for a fine of $300,000, has chosen to appeal that sentence. . . . Tim Petruk of Kamloops This Week has more right here.

B.C. DIVISION: Prince George lost on the road so remains tied with idle Kamloops for fourth, one point behind Vancouver.U.S. DIVISION: All five teams were idle.
EAST DIVISION: Brandon won on the road and moved back into a tie with idle Kelowna for first place in the overall standings. Kelowna has one game in hand. . . . Regina lost at home and appears headed for a second-place finish in the division. . . . Swift Current lost at home and remains third, eight points behind Regina.
CENTRAL DIVISION: Medicine Hat won on the road and now leads the division by six points over idle Calgary, which holds two games in hand. . . . Edmonton won at home and moved into a tie with idle Kootenay for fourth place in the division. They are seven points out of third but hold down the Eastern Conference’s two wild-card spots.

In Swift Current, F Dryden Hunt scored three times to lead the Medicine Hat Tigers to a 6-3 victory over the Broncos. . . . D Ty Stanton gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead at 19:15 of the first period. He’s got seven goals. . . . Hunt scored the game’s next three goals, giving him 28. . . . F Markus Eisenschmid added his 19th at 17:35 of the second and the Tigers took a 5-0 lead into the third. . . . The Tigers got that to 5-3 but Tigers F Cole Sanford iced it with his WHL-leading 46th goal, into an empty net, at 18:59. . . . F Steve Owre and F Chad Butcher each had two assists for the Tigers. . . . The Broncos were 2-for-5 on the PP; the Tigers were 1-for-2. . . . The Tigers, who dressed 17 skaters, were without F Trevor Cox, the WHL’s leading scorer. He was hit with a ‘tbd’ suspension under supplemental discipline for something that happened in Saturday’s game with the Calgary Hitmen. The Tigers and Hitmen meet again tonight, this time in Calgary. . . . The Tigers held a players-only meeting after losing 2-1 to the visiting Hitmen on Saturday. . . . The Tigers (37-18-3) had lost their previous three games. . . . The Broncos (27-25-5) had won their last two. . . .
In Regina, F Braylon Shmyr broke a 2-2 tie in the second period and the Brandon Wheat Kings went on to a 4-3 victory over the Pats. . . . The Wheat Kings took a 2-0 lead into the second period on goals by F Peter Quenneville, his 18th, and F Tyler Coulter, his first of two. Coulter, with four goals in his last four games, has 13 goals. . . . Regina tied it when F Pavel Padakin scored his 20th at 3:25 of the second on a PP and F Austin Wagner notched No. 19 at 8:38. . . . Shmyr broke the tie with his 15th goal at 16:05 and Coulter added insurance at 19:28. . . . Regina F Sam Steel scored his 15th just 13 seconds later. . . . Wheat Kings F Tim McGauley had three assists to run his point streak to 14 games. . . . Brandon F Tanner Kaspick had two assists. Faced with a bunch of injuries, the Wheat Kings played Kaspick, Duncan Campbell and Coulter together. All three are Brandon natives. . . . F Braden Christoffer and D Connor Hobbs each had two assists for Regina. . . . Brandon G Jordan Papirny stopped 27 shots, five more than Regina’s Daniel Wapple. . . . In Edmonton, F Cole Benson scored twice as the Oil Kings downed the Prince George Cougars, 5-1. . . . Benson has nine goals. . . . He gave the Oil Kings a 2-0 lead at 11:22 of the first period. . . . Cougars F Jansen Harkins cut into that lead with his 18th goal at 14:00 of the first. . . . Edmonton scored the game’s last three goals. . . . F Brandon Baddock (14), F Andrew Koep (12) and F Lane Bauer (19) each had a goal and an assist, while D Dysin Mayo had two assists. . . . Edmonton G Tristan Jarry stopped 30 shots as he set the franchise record for career victories by a goaltender (89). Laurent Brossoit had held the previous record. . . . Cougars G Ty Edmonds turned aside 38 shots. . . . The Oil Kings (26-26-6) had lost their previous two games. This was only the third time in their last 11 games that they had scored more than two goals. . . . The Cougars (23-33-4) went 2-2-1 on a five-game road trip.
