Wednesday . . . early

Wondering how much change there has been in Portland with the Winter Hawks? Check out this story in the Oregonian. . . . The Winter Hawks play their first home game under new ownership tonight and somehow it’s only fitting that it’s against the Edmonton Oil Kings. You will recall that the Winter Hawks are the original Oil Kings franchise, having relocated from Edmonton over the summer of 1976.

LW Dana Tyrell of the Prince George Cougars is the Boston Pizza CHL player of the week. He had seven points, including three goals, as the Cougars went 1-0-0-1 last week. Tyrell, 19, is the Cougars’ captain. He is in his fourth season in P.G.
