JUST NOTES: If you were watching the WHL game between the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Blades in Saskatoon on Wednesday night, you may have seen Brandon D Mark Schneider go awkwardly in the boards. It turns out he suffered a broken heel and will be out indefinitely. . . . F Scott Glennie scored twice, including once into an empty net, Friday as the Wheat Kings beat the Pats 3-1 in Regina. . . . Glennie has 19 goals this season. . . . Slotback Jason Clermont, a CFL free agent who agreed to terms Friday with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, dropped the ceremonial puck prior to the game in Regina. . . . Regina D Victor Bartley played in his 300th regular-season WHL game. . . . The Pats had D Travis Sparrow, a seventh-round pick in the 2006 bantam draft, make his WHL debut. He plays for the midget AAA Moose Jaw Warriors. . . . G Travis Yonkman stopped 29 shots to lead the Swift Current Broncos to a 3-1 victory over the Rockets in Kelowna. . . . The Rockets lost D Tyson Barrie late in the game when he apparently took an elbow to the head. He needed assistance getting off the ice and will be re-evaluated Saturday.
G James Reid stopped 26 shots as the Spokane Chiefs got past the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds, 1-0. It was Reid’s second career shutout and came in his sixth appearance. . . . The Chiefs are without G Dustin Tokarski, their go-to guy, as he is in the Canadian national junior team’s selection came. . . . D Jared Cowen scored the only goal in that game, at 13:30 of the first period on a PP. . . . The Thunderbirds had so much fun that they spent the night in Spokane and will the Chiefs there again on on Saturday. . . . The Moose Jaw Warriors beat the Hurricanes 4-3 in Lethbridge in a game that was almost 90 minutes late starting because inclement weather delayed the arrival of the on-ice officials. . . . F Marcus Watson, recalled from the BCHL for the weekend, scored in OT as the Prince George Cougars came from behind to beat the host Portland Winter Hawks, 4-3. The Cougars forced OT when F Brett Connolly scored with three seconds left in the third period. . . . The Medicine Hat Tigers opened a U.S. swing with a 6-3 victory over the Silvertips in Everett. The Silvertips have lost five in a row. . . . The Chilliwack Bruins ended a nine-game skid with a 3-1 victory over the Oil Kings in Edmonton.
DYNAMITER REPORT: F Sam Mellor scored two first-period goals as the Kimberley Dynamiters went into Fernie and beat the Ghostriders 3-2. The teams meet again Saturday, this time in Kimberley. Andrew Green had two assists for the Nitros. . . . The Dynamiters are 15-11-2 and are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. They are fifth in their division, seven points behind the Ghostriders (17-9-5).
