Apologies to D Tyler Pavkovich for spelling his surname incorrectly here on Sunday night. Pavkovich, 15, was a ninth-round selection by Regina in the 2008 bantam draft and has joined the Pats for part of their B.C. swing. The Pats meet the Bruins in Chilliwack tonight and play the Giants in Vancouver on Wednesday. . . . Pavkovich is playing for the Fraser Valley Bruins of the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League. The Bruins are coached by Pat Ansell, who played goal for the Pats for a couple of seasons (1976-78) before going on to play three seasons at Lake Superior State. Yes, he went from major junior hockey to the NCAA. . . . I’m thinking the rules have changed since then. . . .

There will be a homecoming of sort on Wednesday when F Curtis Hamilton and the Saskatoon Blades meet the Rockets in Kelowna. Hamilton, 17, is the son of Rockets owner/president/general manager Bruce Hamilton. “This game’s been on the calendar for a while,” the younger Hamilton told Doyle Potenteau of the Kelowna Daily Courier. “I’m pretty excited, and it’s nice to be back in B.C. to play a few games.” . . . Hamilton is just back in the Blades’ lineup after recoving from a knee injury. . . . And how does Dad feel about the game? “Well . . . you know what? I’d like (for Kelowna) to win in overtime and for him be involved in it,” Bruce said. “But he knows and I know that I want our team to win. That’s just the way it is.” . . . Bruce played for the Blades, too, scoring 91 goals in 178 games from 1974-77. Curtis, wearing his Dad’s number (9), has 19 goals in 84 games. He has 13 points, including five goals, in 14 games this season. . . . Also in the Blades’ lineup are two former Rockets — F Milan Kytnar and D Colin Joe. . . . The Blades, who are 10-1-0-0 on the road, play the Blazers in Saskatoon on Tuesday night. Kamloops will be without RW Tyler Shattock, who drew a two-game suspension for a hit on Regina D Mike Scarborough on Friday. Scarborough ended up with a broken nose and a concussion; Shattock was given an interference major and a game misconduct. He sat out the Blazers’ 4-2 victory over the Chiefs in Spokane on Saturday.
