Monday . . .

THE MacBETH REPORT: Liberec (Czech Republic Extraliga) has released D Matthew Spiller (Seattle, 1999-2003) at the end of his one-month tryout contract. Spiller had no points and was plus-1 in eight games with Liberec. . . . F Johannes Salmonsson (Spokane, 2005-06) has been loaned by Davos (Swiss NL A) to Biel (Swiss NL A) for an indefinite period, just three days after having his tryout contract with Davos extended by a month. Biel needed additional help up front due to injuries and was able to negotiate the loan of Salmonsson; however, Davos holds the right to recall him from the loan at any time. Salmonsson has four goals and nine assists in 15 games for Davos this season.

The Spokane Chiefs have reassigned F David Conrad, 18, to the MJHL’s Winnipeg Saints. Conrad had three points in eight games this season. He got into 55 games with the Chiefs last season, picking up seven points. . . . The Chiefs are carrying 24 players, including 14 forward and eight defencemen.

The Central league’s Wichita Thunder fired head coach Brent Biloldeau last week. There’s more here, including the names of some candidates to perhaps replace him.

The Vancouver Giants have scheduled another Legends at the Rink on Renfrew promotion. The Portland Winterhawks are at Pacific Coliseum on Saturday and the Giants will have three legends of the Montreal Canadiens on hand. Henri (Pocket Rocket) Richard, Yvon Lambert and Charlie Hodge will be saluted by the Giants and their fans. The three of them combined for 19 Stanley Cup championships. According to a release from the Giants: “The evening will start with a pregame tribute to the three players . . . The first 5,000 fans at the Coliseum will receive a special limited edition hockey card featuring the three legends, and 100 randomly selected lucky fans will get to meet Richard, Lambert and Hodge during the game.”

F Ryan Kinasewich (Medicine Hat, Tri-City, 1998-2004) is on his way on loan from the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies to the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs. According to a release from the Grizzlies: “Kinasewich leaves Utah on record pace to shatter ECHL records in goals, scoring, points, goals-per-game and points-per-game. He leads the ECHL with 27 points in 12 games after tallying 16 goals and 11 assists to start the season. . . . The 26-year-old also leads the league in power-play goals (5), game-winning goals (5) and shots (75). On Saturday, he added three goals and two assists to surpass Chris Taylor to become the all-time leading scorer in Grizzlies history. Currently, the forward has put up 280 points in just 191 games with Utah, while Taylor took 278 total contests to log 278 points.”
